New Hawkeyes

So with only seven days until signing day, Iowa seems to have most of their recruiting done. They probably still have 3-4 guys out there that Iowa would love to have. Traditionally there is one guy that comes up late that wasn't publicly known. Once all the players have signed their letter of intents then I will go over the entire list. One of the things that I see so far is this could easily be the best recruiting class for WR's in recent memory. Not only talent wise, but the receivers seem to have more size. Jordan Cottan, Keenan Davis, and Stephane Ngoumou will be a great trio of WR's for the next 4-5 years.

Kinnick

So a little birdy confirmed my fears that we have all witnessed our last game in the cathedral that we call Kinnick Stadium with natural grass. Beginning with the 2009 season, Kinnick will be outfitted with field turf. This is a change that I don't like, but in financial terms it makes sense. The initial price costs are considerably higher with the field turf, but when you factor in the maintenance on natural grass, the field turf will pay for itself within a few years. My only hope is that with the field turf the notoriously reserved University officials will put a logo on the 50. One would be led to believe that Iowa and Hawkeyes will be in the end zones, but a huge tiger hawk would look really cool in the middle of the field. Even Simpson College ponied up the dough for the SC in the field. I would be led to believe that the construction would begin as soon as the ground is thawed enough to start and that means that there will be no spring game/open practice this season. That will suck for fans, but worse things could happen.

Let it all begin

Per Todd's request I have decided to form my own Hawkeye related blog. It will primarily have to do with all things Iowa Football, but will also contain some things basketball and wrestling as well. If you have any ideas for a topic or an idea feel free to let me know. I will try to update it once a week out of season and more often during the season, but cannot guarantee it. So be ready for some Hawk talk!
