A couple weeks ago we learned what the divisions will be in the Big Ten starting next year. In taking a look at the last eight years, the west division has been very balanced. Here is who would have won the division each year:
(Regular season totals only)
2009 - Iowa and Nebraska with 10 wins
2008 - Nebraska, MSU, and NW with 9 wins (MSU beat NW)
2007 - Michigan with 8 wins
2006 - Michigan with 11 wins
2005 - Nebraska with 8 wins
2004 - Michigan and Iowa with 9 wins (Michigan beat Iowa)
2003 - Michigan and Nebraska with 10 wins
2002- Iowa with 11 wins
Overall wins:
Iowa 66
Neb 63
Michigan 62
Northwestern 49
Minnesota 49
Michigan St. 48
Imaginary titles:
Iowa 1 outright 1 tie
Nebraska 1 outright 3 ties
Michigan 2 outright 2 ties
Northwestern 1 tie
Minnesota 0
MSU 1 tie
Before I did this, I had no idea that Iowa had the most wins over the last eight seasons.

I'm probably missing something - but why did you just do the last 8 years? It just seems like an arbitrary time to stop.
ReplyDeleteI used ESPN and they only had the schedules/results for the last eight years.
